Mocha NEVER Reboot Protection®
As part of our excellent service we are very proud to be the only hosting company offering "NEVER Reboot" and "Always Up To Date" service protections - available for free to all of our Linux Shared, Linux Shared Reseller, and Linux VPS plans.
Thanks to the efforts of our engineers and technology partners we are able to update our servers immediately as new software updates are available (including OS kernel updates) - WITHOUT the need to physically reboot any of our servers thus avoiding downtime due to maintenance!
? How are we different than our competitors? Most companies offering shared/VPS hosting will require a physical reboot of their servers when new software updates are available - leading to downtime for your site and business sometimes ranging in hours. In addition most companies will prefer to delay the updates until a convenient time for maintenance thus exposing their clients and client's data to security and reliability risks!
? Why is updating necessary?
90% of attacks exploit out-of date systems.
Gartner study from this year
Delaying system updates until convenient time is tempting, but is also VERY dangerous. Out-of-date systems are vulnerable to well known security problems; even a few days is a sufficiently long window of vulnerability for an attacker to strike.
At MochaHost we update all of our servers as soon as a new update is available!
? Why are reboots a big deal for a hosting company?Reboots require costly supervision and thorough planning. Complications frequently arise during reboots: services don't start properly, or the interruption creates issues with a separate system such as client applications, remote access, etc. Even in the best case, rebooting can require hours of off-peak work hours - resulting in DOWNTIME for the hosting clients hosted on these servers. This is one of the reason why most of our competitors are unable to provide more than 99% uptime guarantee and are unable to match our 100% uptime guarantee!
? How often is rebooting needed? Most of the Linux vendors release patches with important new security and reliability updates about once a month. System administrators know that delaying these important updates is a security risk and is inconsistent with best practices, but rebooting to apply all of these updates is costly for both the companies and the clients hosting on the servers requiring a reboot.
At MochaHost we do NOT require reboots when applying updates so the clients will not even notice any maintenance done on our hosting servers!
